After the 2020 growing season, the Inca de Rutas Cooperative in Cajamarca, Peru appeared doomed. Having shipped a mere four containers of coffee at the height of the COVID pandemic, the COOP’s income had become unsustainable. Since then, thirteen members piloted the COOP’s Agroforestry program, which included seedlings, raised beds, and irrigation reservoirs to bring about higher quality coffee with a focus on ecological sustainability.
